The French Provence is home to some of the world’s most gorgeous vineyards… They are part of its history, of its culture. Thanks to my relatives, I am lucky enough to have become very familiar with this region, which overflows with fantastic and spellbinding wines.
I have known Patrice Moreux for a very long time. A friend of my father’s, he also worked by his side for over twenty years. I am proud to say I now have the privilege of continuing this precious collaboration.
The Vingtinieres domaine, a Provençal vineyard located in the heart of the Côte de Provence appellation and surrounded by the Maures mountain range, enjoys an exceptional microclimate and terroir. It is made of red soil and of rocks often referred to as “Permian plateau”, which makes it a prime place for wine growing.
Every bottle that comes out of the Vingtinieres domaine is filled with passion, savoir-faire, and a constant longing for truth. Advocating a philosophy where Nature overrules everything, the producers eradicate all chemical transformations and synthetic yeast. All fermentation processes are left to run their natural course, and all wines are made with an utmost respect for the terroirs.
Château des Vingtinières Rouge - 2015
A deep purple robe. An agreeable nose, ripe, redcurrants, a floral element, a touch of pepper.
On the mouth its elegance shows through along with its svelteness, its tension and an attractive rich peppery character, with a hint of greenness. A convincing blend, needs a bit of time to express itself.
Château des Vingtinières Rosé - 2018
A pale orange colour, with yellow hints. A fine nose of red fruits, a subtle touch of acidity and pepper. In the mouth the wine is ample and dry, and shows a variety of precise notes, light, tenacious, spicy, with an irreproachable balance.
Not far from there, a few kilometres away from my family home, is the Château des Valentine – a highly established local producer with whom I decided to set up a partnership a few months ago. The domaine spans 50 hectares of schists, vines, pine groves and garigues with full southern exposure, swept over by the mistral and bathed by the soothing sea. Every year, this exceptional landscape gives birth to the finest of biological wines, nicely balanced and of an astonishing regularity.
Château Les Valentines Rosé - 2018
This Organic Rosé has a discrete lovely salmon color. Elegant, fresh and pure nose (hint of cranberries, anise, and fennel).
Round, supple, dry, well balanced and aromatic mouth. The finish is voluptuous and slightly spicy after taste.
All these marvellous Provence gems are now available for purchase online and in our Clerkenwell shop.
