Mas d'Agamas Marsanne - 2023
Vincent Visseq is a talented winegrower who manages now, the Mas d’Agamas vineyards. The Mas D’agamas is a family story, the Visseq family. Their winemaking traditions go back several generations, having spread across the French communes of Lagamas and Montpeyroux. In the vineyards, Mas d’Agamas works in sustainable agriculture. The grapes are always hand harvested which allows Visseq to pick the grapes at the right moment of ripeness and select only the best quality bunches.
This wine is fermented only in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures to preserve the freshness of the primary fruit flavours followed by a short ageing on the lees which adds texture and complexity.
This is a 100% Marsanne, a white grape variety that is found mostly in blends in the Rhône Valley or also in the Languedoc like this great example with the Mas d’Agamas near the Terrasses du Larzac.
Rich and fruity this wine is full of ripe quince, poached pear, cooked apple, flavours. We also have on the nose some subtle honeysuckle and accasia aromas. It is an unoaked wine with a waxy texture and a fresh acidity for a perfect balance.
